When, Where, How

GIS professionals can be found in nearly every Montana city or town. MAGIP would like to help provide a networking platform to support local GIS education, training, data development and data sharing and invite you
to contact us with information on yourself and local activities so we can feature them in this section.

MAGIP Representatives to MLIAC

Governor Schweitzer has selected MAGIP members Michael Sweet and Ken Wall to serve on the Montana Land Information Council (MLIAC). Ken and Mike will be representing our organization on this policy level advisory Council and will work closely with the MAGIP Board of Directors to keep members informed of the Land Information Council's activities to promote the development of the Montana Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI).

GIS Strategic Planning

Stu Kirkpatrick, the State GIS Coordinator, was successful in getting a USGS CAP grant for the state Department of Administration to assist the MLIAC with its strategic planning efforts. Meetings will be held with various interest groups to identify needs and issues. We encourage all MAGIP members to participate in this effort. Information of the meeting schedules will be posted here as they become available.

MontanaView

The MontanaView Consortium was recently accepted for full membership into the national AmericaView program. MontanaView will be promoting the archiving, distribution, and use of satellite and other imagery products throughout the state. MAGIP is a sponsoring member of MontanaView and will participate in the educational component of this program by hosting student and professional workshops, training, and outreach activities.
