Please join us for the next Flathead Geospatial Meetup at Flathead Valley Community College!

This session is geared to expose you to the geospatial education opportunities FVCC has to offer within its surveying and natural resources programs.

Dave Dorsett, Professor and coordinator of the surveying program, and Tim Eichner, Assistant Professor in the surveying and natural resource programs, will lead the evening’s discussion that will touch on the following:

       

- General overview of geospatial classes and skills development at FVCC

- Tour of resources including the college's continuous operating reference station (CORS)

- Projects in GIS dual enrollment classes at Bigfork and Whitefish High Schools (hopefully Hans and Eric can talk about this if present)

- Educational lightning presentation of your choice from the options listed below (to cast a your vote for the subject you would like to see, please send an email to teichner@fvcc.edu)

o ArcGIS Online Workflows – ArcMap to ArcGIS Online to Collector to ArcGIS Online to ArcMap – collecting and maintaining cloud based GIS data

o Remote Sensing – accessing and compositing Landsat data with ArcMap – why is ice blue?

Please join us Thursday, February 12 from 6:30-7:30pm at FVCC in Ross Hall 158 (near the east center of Ross Hall). Click this link for a campus map.

For those interested in meeting afterwards for a few refreshments, we will be meeting at the new Kalispell Brewing Company, 412 Main Street, Kalispell, after 7:30pm.
