Teachers learn to use GPS in the classroom

Teachers across Montana can learn about GPS (Global Positioning Systems) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) at a free workshop set for Friday, Aug. 10, at Montana State University in Bozeman. Teachers who are selected for the program will receive a high-end GPS unit for their classroom, as well as educational resources, Office of Public Instruction renewal units and travel funds.  Ten teachers will be selected for the program via a competitive application process. Previous experience with GIS software and the use of GPS units is preferable, but not mandatory.

Interested teachers may apply online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MontanaGPS2012. The application deadline is July 25.

For more information, contact Suzi Taylor with MSU Extended University at taylor@montana.edu or (406) 994-7957.
