Messages from Medicine Wheel Country

Dr. Shane Doyle (Apsáalooke), will provide insight and contemporary Tribal perspective to the ancient Indigenous way of life in Montana and the surrounding region. As an educator and artist, Dr. Doyle strives to promote Native voices throughout Tribal and public lands across the state and nation. As the leader of the first ever All-Nations Teepee Village in Yellowstone Park, Shane has much to share about the profound Indigenous relationship to the sacred landscape now known as Yellowstone National Park, and the ways in which that beautiful connection continues to buoy and strengthen Native people and Tribal communities.

Dr. Shane Doyle (Apsáalooke), is a Montana-based scholar, writer, performing artist, and community advocate whose work focuses on the deep history and cultural heritage of the Indigenous people of the Northern Great Plains. Doyle holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Montana State University and completed a post-doctoral research appointment in genetics with the University of Copenhagen in 2016. Doyle continues to participate in collaborative research projects throughout the Northern Plains and helped lead the Yellowstone Revealed All-Nations Teepee Village in the summer of 2022. Doyle founded Yellowstone Native Nexus, a Native American nonprofit organization, in 2023 and he is currently a full-time cultural consultant who lives in Bozeman.  Learn more about Dr. Shane Doyle

Call for Posters and Maps - Now Closed

If you have created posters, maps or web applications that you are proud of and would like to put on display for a large group of GIS professionals, the Map Gallery would be a perfect opportunity to show them to the MAGIP community.  We encourage you to enter your maps and web mapping applications to the Map Gallery, for display at this year’s conference!  All entries will be evaluated by judges during the conference for possible cash awards totaling $700.

Click here for complete Poster/Map Guidelines and Policy Document
